A new series of attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles took place during the night from Sunday to Monday, targeting civilian and port infrastructure objectives in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, in the area of the town of Reni. RO-ALERT messages were issued for the population in Tulcea and Galati counties, the Ministry of National Defence announced.

According to the Ministry of National Defence (MApN), the radar systems of the Ministry did not indicate, at any moment, any unauthorised intrusions of the monitored targets into the national airspace.

On the night of Sunday, February 16, to Monday, February 17, Russian Federation forces carried out a new series of attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles against civilian and port infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, in the area of the town of Reni, according to a ministry press release.

„The monitoring and radar surveillance systems of the Ministry of National Defence detected and monitored aerial targets operating in Ukrainian airspace, near the Tulcea and Galati counties. Consequently, the National Military Command Centre (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the implementation of measures to alert the population in the border area of the two counties, and RO-ALERT messages were sent at 10:40 PM. The cease of the air alert in the targeted areas was transmitted at 12:05 AM,” the quoted source says.

The MApN forces will carry out, on Monday, according to standard procedures, investigations in areas where risks may arise due to these situations and will continue airspace surveillance missions. Additionally, allied structures are being informed in real-time about the situations resulting from the attacks.

„The Ministry of National Defence remains firm in its actions to condemn these attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure targets and elements, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with international law,” MApN also points out.
