The minister of Defence, Angel Tilvar, has great reservations about Romania giving a Patriot defense system to Ukraine, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Sunday evening on the Antena3 private television channel, noting that he did not discuss this issue with president Klaus Iohannis and that the decision will be taken in the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT).
„We are three countries with the Patriot system: Poland, Romania and Germany. We know Germany’s position. Mr. Tusk is the prime minister of the Polish government. In our country, according to the Constitution, the supreme commander of the army is Mr. President Klaus Iohannis. I did not have a discussion after the president’s visit to the United States yet. I had discussions with the minister of Defence. The minister of Defence has great reservations about giving this system, one of the systems, to Ukraine,” Marcel Ciolacu stressed.
He added that the decision will be made in the CSAT, together with the president of Romania.
„I am firmly convinced that we will make the wisest decision regarding Romania,” Marcel Ciolacu highlighted.
