Romania is positioned as a perfect logistic hub for the reconstruction of Ukraine, being in close proximity, the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Stefan-Radu Oprea, said on Monday, while answering a question from the entrepreneurs attending a specialized event regarding a possible peace plan and the reconstruction of the neighbouring country.
„It is probably one of the few moments in Romania’s history when geography is our friend. We are no longer on the edge of the European Union, we are at its centre. Things have changed in favour of Romania. It depends on us, on you, on the business environment, the government, let’s take advantage of this opportunity,” said the minister.
He specified that he explained to companies from the United States, European companies and from all over the world, that our country has the capacity to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
„As much as 70-80% of the Ukrainian wheat transited Romania. It went through the Romanian infrastructure, through the port of Constanta, where new production capacities were developed. It is obvious that if we knew how to get the wheat out safely, we also know how to take people and equipment to Ukraine safely, for its reconstruction, which starts right next to Romania. Odesa was also bombed, so the reconstruction starts from here to Donbas,” said Stefan-Radu Oprea.
According to him, it is an advantage to have the logistics base in a NATO member country, in an EU country, very close to the place where the reconstruction of Ukraine must begin, and, at the same time, this is also an opportunity for both foreign and Romanian companies, who must find associates for this purpose.
Ziarul Financiar organized on Monday the event „The Most Dynamic companies in Romania: Keep Growing!”
