Published on

The Ministry of Culture, through the Project Management Unit, as coordinator of reforms and investments and as provider and administrator of the de minimis aid scheme, will contract 47 projects under the call „Support for cultural initiatives to accelerate the digitization of film production and distribution, including cinematographic films”.

According to the ministry, the budget is 5 million EUR (24,841,500 RON), representing the contribution from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), to which about 1 million EUR (4,750,000 RON), the value-added tax (VAT), is added from the state budget.

Each project will receive a maximum of 100,000 EUR and will run for a maximum of six months, the Culture Ministry said on Tuesday.

„This call for projects comes in support of Romanian film producers and distributors, aiming to facilitate the increase of the Romanian companies’ competitiveness in the film industry on national, European and international markets, the modernization of the current mode of production, distribution and consumption, but also to increase the capacity to respond to new consumer challenges in order to adapt the cultural sector to the requirements and opportunities of the digital age,” explained the source.

According to the ministry, the indicator assumed under the PNRR (40 film producers and distributors) has been exceeded, so that 47 beneficiaries will develop diverse digital content for the Romanian public and beyond: from documentaries and animation films, comedy shorts, trailers for films, teasers for feature-length projects, to the digitization of Romanian films.
