Ministry of Finance raises additional 195 million lei from banks

Published on

The Ministry of Finance raised an additional 195 million lei from banks on Friday, supplementary to the auctions held on Thursday, when it borrowed 1.919 billion lei at annual interest rates of 7.63% and 7.27% through two benchmark-type government bond issues.

The nominal value of the two additional issues was 90 million lei and 105 million lei, respectively. Banks submitted bids worth 380 million lei and 545 million lei.

The Ministry of Finance (MF) has planned to borrow 7.4 billion lei from commercial banks in March 2025, to which an additional sum of 840 million lei may be added through supplementary non-competitive offer sessions, related to bond auctions.

The total amount of 8.24 billion lei is 200 million lei higher than the sum planned for February this year, which was 8.04 billion lei. This amount will be used for the refinancing of public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
