Mircea Fechet: We have digitized most of interaction processes with citizens, still a lot of work to do

Published on

The processes through which we interact with the citizens have been digitized for the most part, but at the same time, I must admit that we still have a lot of work to do in terms of the traceability of the wood mass, declared, on Wednesday, the minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, at the 7th edition of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Forum (CIP Forum), part of the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) 2024.

The minister added that, through a partnership with Google, it was possible to evaluate a timber transport notice in less than a second.

Fechet emphasized that he very much wants artificial intelligence to be part of this process „in which we have a cleaner environment and healthier forests”.

„Tomorrow, (Thursday, April 18, 2024, ed.n) I hope we can finally sign the contract for the public procurement of services for the monitoring of Romania’s forests using satellite maps. We are very close to awarding the contract for the video monitoring of the national forest fund using smart video cameras, just as we will use LiDAR technology for forest management in Romania. All these things that we talked about earlier are financed in a partnership with the Ministry of European Funds, because we use money from Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the digitization of the Ministry of the Environment,” said the official.

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest is organizing, from April 16 to 18, at the Palace of the Parliament, the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) event, during which the 7th edition of the Forum on Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP Forum), as well as the 3rd edition of the International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy (ICCD).

According to the organizers, CIP Forum focuses on the integration of blockchain to combat cyber attacks, the launch of the NFT Museum of ICI Bucharest and panels dedicated to the role of women in innovation and society.
