The rehabilitation and modernization of the border customs offices at the border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova will play an important role in streamlining the traffic at the border between the two countries and in improving the working conditions for customs workers involved in control activities, President of the Romanian Customs Authority (AVR) Bogdan-Lari Mihei argues, according to a AVR release sent to Agerpres.
On 24 February, in Chisinau, a delegation of the AVR, led by Bogdan-Lari Mihei participated in the meeting of the Coordination Committee of the project called „The rehabilitation and modernization of the border customs office of Romania-Moldova border, namely Albita-Leuseni, Sculeni-Sculeni and Giurgiulesti-Giurgiulesti custom office” – RMCO/4.3/1, organized by the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.
„I am very glad to see once again the openness of our partners and the good cooperation of the two customs administrations,” Bogdan-Lari Mihei stated at the end of the meeting.
According to the quoted source, this large infrastructure project represents one of the major projects of strategic investment for the development of the border area between partner states Romania and Moldova.
Implemented by the Romanian Customs Authority in partnership with the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova, the project is funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument.
Within the meeting in Chisinau, the parties presented the progress registered within the project and agreed the next necessary steps to complete it.
