MPs of the Justice and Respect in Europe for All Party (DREPT) Platform support a motion of censure against the Ciolacu Government and consider that the organization of elections by the current government can only bring ”a new massive fraud”, informs a press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
According to the cited source, the DREPT Platform believes that the elections can be organized in a fair and unquestionable manner only by an independent faithful to the values of the rule of law.
„With 500,000 invalid votes in the European Parliament elections and ample specific evidence of fraud, it is clear that the current government has disqualified itself in terms of organizing the presidential and parliamentary elections. Now we are witnessing new abuses by the PSD – PNL coalition, from the desire not to have impartial delegates in the polling stations to the first ever invalidation of a candidate in the presidential elections. Thus, the DREPT Platform maintains that massive election fraud is being prepared and only a person whose integrity cannot be questioned, such as Laura Codruta Kovesi, could guarantee the organization of 100% fair elections. The DREPT Platform will always support independent people, with integrity and competence, in the key positions of the Romanian state,” said DREPT leader Vlad Gheorghe.
The representatives of the party recall that MP Cosette Chichirau, affiliated to the DREPT Platform, submitted on Tuesday a bill to eliminate the CCR, whose members are politically appointed, from the validation procedure of candidates to the presidential elections.
”The purpose of the proposed amendment is to exclude any political interference in the procedure of validating candidates and to leave this validation solely within the competence of the High Court of Cassation and Justice,” the press release added.
Save Romania Union (USR) leader Elena Lasconi announced that she is working, together with her party colleagues, on a censure motion against the Ciolacu Government.
