The National Institute of Statistics (INS) started, on September 1, 2024, the 2024-2025 European Statistics Competition in Romania (CES) grant project, according to a press release.

According to the INS, Romania’s participation in this event is a national first. The 2024-2025 European Statistics Competition in Romania is aimed at high school pupils and will take place under the auspices of the National Institute of Statistics and the Ministry of Education, under the coordination of the European Commission (EUROSTAT). The main objective of the competition is to stimulate pupils’ curiosity and interest in the use of official statistics, to encourage teachers to use modern materials and techniques in the application of statistics in various disciplines, and to highlight the role and importance of statistics in society.

The national competition takes place in two stages between January and March 2025, followed by a European stage which will take place between April and June 2025.

INS mentions that in October 2024 there will be an event to launch the competition, and the awarding ceremony of the winning teams at the national level is scheduled for March/April 2025.
