The number of new car registrations in Romania in the first eight months of this year reached 106,534 units, up 6.35% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Romanian General Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicles Registration (DRPCIV), cited by the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM).
According to the cited source, new car registrations fell by 22.64% to 9,972 units during the same period in 2024, compared to August last year.
In the ranking of new car registrations by vehicle type at the end of August this year, Dacia ranked first place with 32,009 units, followed by Toyota – with 9,206 units, Hyundai (6,961), Skoda (6,938), Renault (6,873), Renault (6,873), Volkswagen (6,352), Ford (4,503), Mercedes (3,689), BMW (3,420) and Suzuki (3,301).
Official data reveal that the volume of second-hand cars registered for the first time in Romania reached 27,710 units in August 2024, up 5.1% year-on-year.
Moreover, 210,472 used cars were registered for the first time in Romania by the end of August 2024, 19.56% more than the volume reported in the first eight months of the previous year.
