New orders in the processing industry increased by 2.3%, overall, in nominal terms, between January 1 and October 31, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
During the reference period, increases were recorded in the capital goods industry (+6.4%), and decreases in the durable goods industry (-3.7%), the intermediate goods industry (-3.4%) and the consumer goods industry (-1.4%).
The number of new orders in the processing industry increased by 7.9% in October 2024, compared to the same month of the previous year, on the back of increases in the intermediate goods industry (+8.5%), the capital goods industry (+8.0%), the consumer goods industry (+6.7%) and the durable goods industry (+4.6%).
Also, compared to September 2024, in October 2024, new orders in the manufacturing industry increased by 11% following increases recorded in the durable goods industry (+28.8%), the intermediate goods industry (+13.5%), the capital goods industry (+9.8%) and the consumer goods industry (+0.3%).
