Nicolae Ciuca: As president, I will promote trust and respect in society

PNL (National Liberal Party) leader Nicolae Ciuca on Sunday stated that he is entering the presidential race to be the guarantor of social peace, and to promote trust and respect in our society.

„As president, I will be the guarantor of social peace. I cannot promise what is unrealistic, populist and deceptive to the people. Instead, I can assume that I will promote, with all my might, values such as respect and trust in our society. As a military man I have always been faithful to the country and I defended it when needed. As a politician, when I say that I am loyal to the country I understand that I need to promote respect and trust in our society,” said Ciuca, on Sunday, at the PNL National Council.

He explained why he is running for the highest position in the state.

„I am a professionally fulfilled man, who had the chance to perform politically as well. I was a minister, then prime minister and I also have this huge honour of being the leader of the most beautiful, noble, elegant political party in Romania. (…) PNL is more than a historic party, it is the party that makes history and we will not stop making history, for the Romania of today and for the Romania of tomorrow. (…) I am running for the supreme office in the Romanian state because, not being a man who he spent his whole life in the party headquarters, I understand better than others the expectations of the Romanian people, I see better than others the opportunities and the great dangers that threaten us (…) In everything we have done in life, God has helped us and he helped me,” said Ciuca.

Nicolae Ciuca showed that he wants „a lively and dynamic economy in which ideas and work count”.

„I want us to continue to support entrepreneurs, reduce bureaucracy and attract investments that create jobs. I want the Romanian village – as I said – to prosper. We must believe in the rural middle class and come up with concrete policies to develop and strengthen it. Agriculture must become an economic engine. I will support the farmers and the modernisation of rural communities, so that life in the country is a worthy option and our traditions continue. The healhcare system also needs to be accessible for everyone, to be a modern and efficient one, attentive to the needs of the people. We need investments in hospitals, in equipment, but especially in those who save lives, just as we need a long-term project for education for the future. I also want to prepare the young for the future, to insist on innovation and research, because we need to have schools and we need to have universities to be proud of, knowing that the educational future of the young people is the future of our society as a whole,” pointed out Ciuca.

The PNL leader noted that „care for the environment also means care for tomorrow”. „We all see how serious the effects of the floods in the southern part of Moldova are. Romania must become a leader in green energy and nature protection, to leave a clean and healthy country to future generations,” added Nicolae Ciuca.

The National Council of PNL validated, on Sunday, the candidacy of Nicolae Ciuca for the presidency of Romania.
