The general mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, declared that, at this moment, his main counter-candidate in the race for a new mandate at the head of Bucharest City Hall is Cristian Popescu Piedone (PUSL, Humanist Social Liberal Party).
He said, on Monday, that he will not „attack” the National Liberal Party (PNL) candidate for the Capital City Hall, Sebastian Burduja, in this electoral campaign.
„I really want to win and I really want that, in the majority that we will create (…), the PNL participates. And then I don’t think it is productive to tell ourselves things that will obviously remain (. ..).What he does depends on him. I will not attack him (…) my relationship with the PNL public was very important (…) meet the expectations, I will not attack the PNL and Burduja in this campaign,” said Nicusor Dan, on the occasion of a conference at the start of the works to secure the Solacolu Inn.
Asked by journalists about the last opinion poll released to the public, he pointed out that it represents „a snapshot of the moment”, and Cristian Popescu Piedone remains the main counter-candidate.
„I also did a survey (…) when the candidates were somehow the same as today’s and somehow the data we collected there converge with those from the surveys presented. It is clear that Cristian Popescu Piedone and Gabriela Firea share the same electoral pool, people who over time have voted with the Social Democratic Party (PSD) (…) In my opinion, based on the survey I did and the discussions our volunteers have with people on the street, Cristian Popescu Piedone remains the main counter-candidate,” the general mayor of Bucharest said.
