The Romanian Defence Ministry (MApN) announces that the presence of drone fragments in an area other than those previously investigated has not been confirmed, as the surveillance of areas on the national soil near Ukrainian ports continue, write Agerpres.
„Following the information received on September 9 after-noon from the local public officials of Ceatalchioi, who signalled the possible existence of some drone fragments in a different area than the ones investigated so far located approximately 3.5 kilometres west of Plauru, forces of the Marine Infantry Regiment carried out on Saturday, September 9, in the second part of the day, and on the morning of Sunday, September 10, search missions in the field, as a result of which it was not confirmed the existence of the reported elements. MApN forces remain on the alert and will continue investigations in the areas of the national soil located in the vicinity of the locations where Russian forces carry out attacks on the Ukrainian Danube port infrastructure,” MApN reported on Sunday.
In the last 48 hours, MApN, the Romanian Navy and the Land Forces deployed search teams in the field with aerial surveillance devices that covered over 80 square kilometres in the areas of the towns of Ceatalchioi, Plauru and Chilia Veche in Tulcea County, and in Galati County, on the Romanian bank of the Danube, near the port of Reni in Ukraine. Also, the Navy carried out patrol and monitoring missions on the Chilia branch of the Danube using inland vessels.
„The Defence Ministry strongly condemns the attacks carried out by the Russian Federation on facilities and elements of civil infrastructure in the Ukrainian Danube ports. The attacks are unjustified and in serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, being war crimes. Also, MApN remains in permanent contact with NATO, which is informed in real time.’
