Only 27.7% of Romanians benefit from salary increases, most of them of up to 5%

Only 27.7% of Romanians benefited from salary increases this year, among whom 47.1% benefited from salary increases of up to 5%, and 36.8% from increases between 5% and 10%, shows a survey carried out by the CEC Bank in partnership with the banking comparator FinZoom.ro, Agerpres reports.

When asked if they benefited from a salary increase since the beginning of the year, 61.6% of the respondents stated that they did not benefit from salary increases, 27.7% said that their salaries did increase, while 10.6% had chose not to answer the question.

According to the same source, the survey was carried out in October, and those with above-average earnings and higher education benefited from salary increases.

According to the level of salaries, 45.2% of the respondents with monthly incomes over 10,000 lei benefited from salary increases, while in the segment of those with incomes between 2,500 and 5,000 lei per month the share is 34.5%, and in the case of those with low salaries, below 2,500 lei/month, the share of those who benefited from increases is only 20.7%.

Depending on their studies, 38.6% of those with post-graduate studies have benefited from salary indexation, 28.4% – of those with higher education, while in the segment of those with secondary education – only 28.4% have benefited from salary increases.

The survey data show that 47.1% of the respondents say that the increase percentage was up to 5% and only 5.1% benefited from more than 20% salary increases. Another 36.8% say that they received between 5-10% more in salary and 10.9% claim that their salary was increased by amounts between 10-20%.

Among those who have benefited from salary increases, 35.6% say that they manage to regularly put money aside, more than the general average – 24.6%.

The financial barometer survey was conducted online, by the FinZoom.ro banking comparator, at the request of CEC Bank, in October, on a sample of over 1,250 individual respondents from all over the country, being representative for the internet users. Also, 58.6% of respondents are employees, 46.7% declared incomes between 2,500 lei and 5,000 lei, and almost half – 50.8% – below 2,500 lei monthly, 34.6% of those questioned are aged between 25 and 40 years old, 33.7% have higher education and 9.5% postgraduate education.
