A number of 21,006 companies were deregistered nationally in the first quarter of 2025, 16.95% less compared to the same period in 2024, according to statistics from the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC).
The most deregistrations were recorded in the municipality of Bucharest, respectively 3,480 (a number down by 9.04% compared to the first three months of 2024) and in the counties of Cluj (1,053, -18.44%), Bihor (876, +10.75%), Iasi (864, +0.23%), Timis (831, -16.73%) and Ilfov (738, -16.42%).
At the opposite pole, the fewest deletions were recorded in the counties of Ialomita (109, down 33.54% compared to January-March 2024), Calarasi (118, -29.76%), Caras-Severin (150, -35.9%), Mehedinti (156, -26.76), Teleorman (161, -23.7%) and Covasna (168, – 14.72%).
Increases in the number of deregistrations were recorded only in the counties of Vrancea (+12.85%), Bihor (+10.75%), Sibiu (+7.62%), Giurgiu (+0.51%) and Iasi (+0.23%), while the most significant decreases were recorded in Dambovita (-51.64%), Caras-Severin (-35.9%), Bistrita Nasaud (-34.7%), Constanta (-32.14%) and Ialomita (-33.54%).
By activity area, the highest number of deregistrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 5,002 (-14.39%, compared to Q1 2024), agriculture, forestry and fishing (2,373, – 19.15%) and transport and storage (1,970, – 8.63%).
In March 2025, 8,512 company deregistrations were recorded, most in Bucharest (1,494) and in the counties of Cluj (477), Bihor (409), Ilfov (369), Timis (329) and Iasi (320).
