The number of companies that suspended their activity in January 2025 was 1,706, down by 30.37% compared to the similar period in 2024, according to data published by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).
Most of the companies that suspended their activity were from Bucharest, respectively 192 (down 30.69% compared to the first month of 2024), followed by Cluj county, with 96 suspended companies (minus 26.72%), Bihor – 95 (minus 7.77%), Iasi – 78 (minus 17.89%), Prahova – 73 (minus 2.67%) and Suceava 69 (plus 7.81%).
Conversely, the fewest suspensions were recorded in the counties of Ialomita – 6 (minus 70% compared to January 2024), Galati – 9 (minus 71.88%), Caras-Severin – 11 (minus 47.62%) and Gorj – 14 (the same as in the first month of 2024).
The largest increases in the number of suspensions were recorded in the counties of Calarasi (21.74%%), Giurgiu (plus 18.75%) and Covasna (plus 12.5%), while the most significant decreases were recorded in the counties of Dambovita (minus 74.26%), Galati (minus 71.88%) and Ialomita (minus 70%).
By sector of activity, the highest number of suspensions was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 301 (minus 44.77% compared to January 2024), construction – 169 (minus 29.29%) and in professional, scientific and technical activities – 136 (minus 46.25%).
