The Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan, on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova, sent a message on Thursday on Romanian Language Day, stating that this day „gives us the opportunity to show the world our appreciation for the people who contributed directly, with sacrifices, with determination and professionalism in promoting the common cultural wealth”, write Agerpres.

„It is an immense honour and joy to be at the State University of Moldova on this special day, the Day of the Romanian Language in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, all the more so since this year it was reaffirmed as the official language in the Republic of Moldova.

This day gives us the opportunity to show the world our appreciation for the people who contributed directly, with sacrifices, with determination and professionalism to the promotion of the common cultural wealth. We paid, together with the Romanian delegation and our counterparts, a tribute to the legacy of the great poet Mihai Eminescu, whose lyrics echo in our hearts in unison,’, said Raluca Turcan, in the message.

According to her, „our common identity has withstood the difficult times, regardless of the historical challenges, regardless of the difficulties the Romanian people went through, thanks to the brave and worthy people who dedicated themselves body and soul to the preservation of the Romanian language and the promotion of European cultural values”.

„‘The Romanian language is my homeland’, said the great poet Nichita Stanescu. Together, today we thank those who fought and succeeded in promoting these values and we promise to remain as determined and dedicated to our cultural values and the Romanian language,” Turcan said.
