Over 1,100 Romanian citizens and family members register their presence in Lebanon at Romanian Embassy

Published on

As many as 1,136 Romanian citizens and their family members have registered so far their presence in Lebanon at the Romanian Embassy in Beirut, the diplomatic staff maintaining a permanent contact with them, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs in a reply sent to AGERPRES.

„The security situation is fluid and we are assessing all scenarios, depending on the information on the ground and in dialogue with European and regional partners, in order not to expose to additional risks and not to endanger the lives of people in vulnerable situations. In addition, the MAE has sent mobile consular teams both in Beirut and in other countries in the region, in order to provide consular assistance to Romanian citizens and family members in Lebanon who request it,” the MAE added.

The Romanian Ministry states that it maintains a permanent dialogue with the EU Member States and partners in the region and at the international level regarding the political and security developments in the Middle East.

MAE, through the Romanian Embassy in Beirut, has undertaken specific actions, on a permanent basis, according to its competences, in order to ensure consular protection of Romanian citizens in this country.

MAE strongly advises Romanian citizens who are already on the territory of the Republic of Lebanon to leave the territory of this state by air flights still available.

In view of the worsening security situation in Lebanon, the ministry has reiterated its strong recommendation to Romanian citizens present in this country to register their presence at the Romanian diplomatic mission in Beirut, in order to facilitate the granting of consular protection by the MAE, if the situation so requires.
