The leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) MPs, Gabriel Andronache, said that in the legislature that is ending, the Liberals have initiated more than 140 laws that were adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, including the reduced VAT rate of 5% for school textbooks and audio books, internet for all, the elimination of the „cardboard folder with metal flat mechanism” in public institutions, the aid scheme for agricultural producers, the establishment of traditional gastronomic points.

„As many as 142 laws initiated by PNL deputies and adopted by the Chamber of Deputies represent the essence of the activity of the PNL parliamentary group from the beginning of the current legislature until the last session of the 2020-2024 parliamentary term. Through these laws, PNL MPs have contributed significantly to improving the lives of citizens, from ensuring quality and digitalized public services in local communities to promoting traditions and folk customs, from streamlining public procurement procedures to reducing bureaucracy and the time it takes to set up a business, from the optimization of legislation to attract European money faster and better for the benefit of the people, to the adoption of measures to protect children, the elderly, the sick and to stimulate those able-bodied,” Gabriel Andronache told AGERPRES.

Andronache also pointed out that the Liberals have also promoted initiatives that „responded to specific problems and more delicate issues on the public agenda”, among them being Law 249/2021 which establishes free transportation for schoolchildren provided by the city halls, regulations on discouraging economic operators from selling tobacco and alcoholic beverages to minors, initiatives to improve civil and criminal legislation, Law 282/2022 through which family doctors have opened secondary points of work in the country, the law for the prevention and control of cancer.

At the same time, other laws promoted by PNL were: Law 123/2023 – which facilitates the issuance of land titles for those in areas that have not been collectivized, the law that establishes detoxification and recovery centres for drug addicts and provides measures to combat this serious phenomenon.

Throughout the legislature, PNL MPs have addressed questions to both the prime minister and members of the Government, bringing to their attention the problems raised by citizens at the parliamentary cabinets, said Gabriel Andronache.

He added that the parliamentary group of PNL had „an active presence also in the field of parliamentary diplomacy”.

Parliament’s 2020-2024 legislature ends on Thursday.
