Over 83k companies deregister in 2024

A total of 83,012 companies were deregistered nationwide in 2024, 16.52% more compared to the previous year, according to statistics from the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).

The highest number of deregistrations was recorded in Bucharest, with 12,982 (a 9.83% increase compared to 2023), and in the counties of Cluj (4,290, +15.14%), Timi? (3,431, +10.22%), Constanta (3,163, +7.26%), Iasi (2,972, +7.33%), Dambovita (2,833, +48.09%), and Bihor (2,804, +26.53%).

On the other hand, the fewest deregistrations were recorded in the counties of Ialomita (558, up by 34.13% compared to the previous year), Calarasi (577, +3.96%), Giurgiu (597, +7.76%), Teleorman (658, +5.96%), and Covasna (689, +20.45%).

The most significant increases in the number of deregistrations were registered in the counties of Dambovita (+48.09%), Dolj (+47.62%), Maramures (+44.93%), and Harghita (+41.76%). Only in the county of Bacau was there a slight decrease in the number of deregistrations, by 0.24%.

By sector, the highest number of deregistrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, with 19,099 (+11.11%, compared to 2023), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (8,863, +65.23%), transportation and storage (7,735, +23.29%), and professional, scientific, and technical activities (7,281, +13.29%).

In December 2024, there were 8,603 deregistrations of companies, the highest numbers being in Bucharest (1,186) and in the counties of Cluj (553), Timis (392), Arges (359), Iasi (330), and Prahova (321).
