Government spokesman Mihai Constantin said on Thursday that there is a permanent monitoring of the implementation of the ordinance slashing prices for basic foods and that a report of the Competition Council reveals „substantial cuts in certain cases”, write Agerpres.
„I don’t know if there is an investigation going on, but there is a natural monitoring of the implementation of a piece of legislation and yes, the Competition Council issued a comparative report June – August 1, if I’m not mistaken, as eraly as last week, one that revealed substantial price cuts in certain cases. Anyway, all the products mentioned in the ordinance had discounts there (…) I think the prime minister has his own observations in the area, because, if I’m not mistaken, at the beginning of last weekend, he stopped on his way home in a store, to see with his own eyes that the ordinance has an effect,” said Constantin. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday, at the beginning of a government meeting, that food products did not become more expensive after the entry into force of the ordinance cutting prices of basic foods and urged the members of his cabinet to check prices in stores nationwide, as the agriculture minister already did.
