PM Ciolacu considers Government has done its job, it has not deviated from initial objectives

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Wednesday took stock of the government, noting that this Government’s activity has not been easy, but despite all the problems, not for a single second has it strayed from the „initial objectives” and „did its job”.

„I decided to make a brief assessment of this government because today we had the last meeting of the Government with full powers, and once the new Parliament is installed, this Government will become an interim one. And I would like to start from the priorities that I set out a year and 6 months ago, in order to see the stage of the objectives proposed then,” said Marcel Ciolacu.

He said that the work of this government has not been easy.

„In parallel with the assumed priorities, together with my colleagues, we have been the fire fighters on duty for many of the problems left unresolved in all the years before us. I don’t know to what extent we managed to solve everything, but I can tell you that we did everything we could to put things back on their normal path,” Ciolacu added.

The prime minister also said that, „despite all the problems that have arisen, this government has never strayed from its initial objectives”.

„And today, at the end, I can tell you that I am proud to have been able to contribute, in a small way, to what Romania is now. A regional economic powerhouse, with a Gross Domestic Product exceeding 355 billion EUR this year. In terms of GDP per capita, at purchasing power parity, Romania has equaled Poland and is above Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Greece, Latvia and Bulgaria. We are now at 80 PERCENT of the EU average. All these data – official and confirmed by international bodies – show that this government has done its job,” the prime minister said.
