PM Ciolacu: I welcome solidarity of our NATO allies

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu welcomed on Saturday the solidarity of NATO allies, after new drone fragments were discovered on Romanian territory, write Agerpres.

„I welcome the solidarity of our NATO allies following the recent events along the Romanian-Ukrainian border. We are monitoring the evolution with the utmost attention and are acting to increase Romania’s air security, in the vicinity of the war zone, in close collaboration with our allies”, the prime minister wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, the Ministry of National Defense announced that fragments of a drone similar to those used by the Russian army were discovered by troops of the Romanian Naval Forces. According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, during the day on Saturday, troops from the Romanian Naval Forces, deployed for research missions in the area of Plauru, Tulcea county, carried out search activities in the area of responsibility, as a result of receiving information from the local authorities, transmitted by the command of the Tulcea Garrison, regarding the possible existence of drone elements approximately 2.5 kilometers southeast of Plauru.

The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, expressed the Alliance’s solidarity with Romania, in a telephone conversation with President Klaus Iohannis. The NATO official wrote on Twitter that there is no indication of the intention to attack NATO, but the attacks are destabilizing.
