PM Ciolacu: Nation’s modernization, long-lasting process requiring constant efforts from entire society

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said in a message on the occasion of the Day of the Unification of the Romanian Principalities that the modernization of the nation is a long-lasting process that requires constant efforts from the entire society.

„The Unification of Wallachia with Moldavia is a great example of how an important political project undertaken in accordance with the will of the people can become a reality. This accomplishment of the country was made possible owing to courageous leaders in solidarity with the Romanian nation, such as the „Prince of the Unification’, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, whose reign laid the foundations of the modern Romanian state. Just as then, at present, the modernization of a nation is a long-lasting process that requires constant efforts from the entire society, starting with political leaders. Ever since taking office, we have put the country’s development first, which must prevail over personal interests, regardless of the electoral costs involved,” reads the message sent on Friday.

Marcel Ciolacu emphasizes that the generation that achieved the Unification of the Romanian Principalities „continues to inspire us to overcome the many trials and to remain united”.

„Social cohesion is essential for the achievement of the country goals. Together we have achieved the accession to the Schengen Area and the Visa Waiver Program, objectives which, together with the status of member of the European Union and NATO, strengthen Romania’s role in the world and give Romanians the rights they deserve. Together we will take Romania in the OECD and we will continue the reforms undertaken by this government, which allow us to access European money and use it for large infrastructure projects, such as the Moldovan motorway, as well as for other investments that will improve people’s lives,” the message adds.
