Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu sent on Tuesday a message of congratulations on his and the Bucharest Government’s behalf to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the anniversary of Independence Day, mentioning that he reassured his counterpart, Dorin Recean, that Romania will be in the future, as it has been so far, at the forefront of the efforts to consolidate the European path, the stability and democratic development of the neighbouring country.
„I convey my congratulations and those of the Romanian Government to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the Independence Day anniversary! Today I also congratulated my friend Dorin Recean and I reassured him that Romania will be in the future, as it has been so far, at the forefront of the efforts to consolidate the European path, the establishment and democratic development of the Republic of Moldova. Our firm, clear and unwavering support for the Republic of Moldova is based on a consensus among the political actors in Romania and on a strong emotional attachment of the entire Romanian society,” Ciolacu wrote in a post on the Government’s Facebook page.
He underlined that Romania will stand side by side with the Republic of Moldova to achieve the goal of joining the European Union.
„We speak the same language, we have the same culture and history, we want the same future for the Republic of Moldova: safe, prosperous, democratic, in the middle of the European family. We will stand by the Republic of Moldova, by all its citizens, on the path that will lead to the fulfillment of this ideal. We have full confidence in the Government of the Republic of Moldova, in Prime Minister Dorin Recean, in the determined and courageous efforts of the entire administration in Chisinau, aimed at preparing the way to achieve this goal. European integration is the only option that can ensure all citizens of the Republic of Moldova the chance for a better, safer, dignified and richer future. Moldova’s place is in the European Union. I am convinced that in the referendum on October 20, 2024, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will resoundingly reaffirm this truth,” said Marcel Ciolacu.
