PM Ciolacu says tax administration started legal proceedings to seize Gabriel Resources shares

Published on

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in Barlad on Friday, when asked if the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) had seized the shares of Gabriel Resources, said that ANAF is doing its duty, Romania has won the case and legal proceedings have begun.

„ANAF is doing its duty. We have won a lawsuit, legal proceedings have started. I assume that if they had won the case, they would have done the same,” Ciolacu said.

Earlier in March, the government reported that Romania had won in the Rosia Montana case, at the International Court of Arbitration in Washington (ICSID) against Gabriel Resources.

Romania received on Friday, 8 March 2024, the decision of the International Arbitration Action initiated by Gabriel Resources Ltd. and Gabriel Resources (Jersey), according to which the country won the case and the claimants were obliged to reimburse Romania the court costs related to the arbitration proceedings.
