He was asked,at the Social Democratic Party (PSD) main offices, if in Israel there are Romanians having asked for help to be repatriated from the Hamas controlled areas. „There are about 790 Romanian nationals at the moment, pilgrims, and, together with the foreign minister, we are looking for options to bring them home as quickly as possible. As you well know, all airports in Israel are closed at the moment. A state of war warning has been issued. We will see how things evolve. There is no Romanian injured or in the war zone. There are about seven settlements where Hamas forces have advanced, we will see the dynamics moving forward,” said Ciolacu.

The Israeli army declared a state of war following Saturday’s massive attacks on Israel from the Palestinian Gaza Strip. Before that, the leader of the armed wing of the Hamas movement announced the launch of an operation – „Al-Aqsa Flood” – against Israel, launching hundreds of rockets from the Gaza Strip on Israeli territory.
