PM Ciolacu:Romania is shoulder to shoulder with the Republic of Moldova in achieving the European dream

Published on

Romania remains firmly committed to supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova and will continue to support the citizens and authorities in Chisinau to achieve their goals in this regard, and Russia’s aggressive propaganda will not change this, the Bucharest Government said on Thursday.

In a press release sent to AGERPRES, the Government underlines that Russia’s aggressive propaganda, which distorts historical data and ignores current realities, must be combated by all means, so that the objective of Moldova’s integration in the European Union be achieved.

„The Russian authorities are desperately trying to change the European course of the Republic of Moldova by spreading false news. I encourage all leaders in Chisinau not to be intimidated by such actions. Romania is shoulder to shoulder with the Republic of Moldova in achieving the European dream,” Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu is quoted in the release as saying.

Moldova’s desire to become an EU member state represents the choice of stability, prosperity and a community of values and principles, things that Russia continues to flagrantly violate, attacking its neighbours with conventional and hybrid means, which flagrantly violate international law, the source points out.

„Along with the other EU member states, Romania will continue to support the Republic of Moldova in strengthening its democratic institutions and its capacity to counter the aggressive hybrid attacks it faces from the Russian Federation,” the press release also reads.
