PNL’s Bolojan: Crin Antonescu will be designated coalition candidate for President of Romania

Published on

Crin Antonescu will be the candidate endorsed by the coalition parties for the Presidency of Romania, announced on Monday National Liberal Party (PNL) interim president Ilie Bolojan.

„PNL has signed this coalition protocol so that our country can have a stable government in a difficult period, in order to take measures to keep budget spending within normal limits, to implement reforms, and to create conditions for development in our country. One of the provisions of this protocol is the designation of a single candidate for the position of President of Romania. We have agreed by consensus that this candidate should be Mr. Crin Antonescu, with each political party going to nominate and approve this candidacy in their internal bodies,” said the PNL leader at a press conference held at the Parliament Palace, alongside the leaders of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) and the representative of the national minorities.
