More than 175 teams with 963 robots, representing 25 countries, will participate November 1-3 in the third edition of ROBOFEST, an event dedicated to innovation and passion for robotics, taking place on the campus of the Politehnica National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest.
Thus, for three days, the university campus will become a showcase for hundreds of robots and cutting-edge technologies, bringing together technology enthusiasts, students and professionals in the area.
According to a press release issued by the higher education institution on Tuesday, ROBOFEST 2024 will also include RoboChallenge, an international robotics competition, the largest in Europe, now in its 15th edition, which will bring together almost 1,200 participants from over 25 countries on five continents.
„This year, the competition will bring more diversity, with participants from countries such as Armenia, Chile, Algeria, Estonia, Croatia, India, Moldova, Ukraine, the United States and Uzbekistan. The 2023 edition brought together 224 teams and 941 participants from 19 countries. 25,000 visitors watched the competitions and the 644 robots both physically on campus and online, with the event streamed live on the university’s channels. With 175 teams entered, ROBOFEST 2024 breaks previous records this year, with a total of 963 robots entered and 25 countries participating,” say the organisers.
The 963 robots will „duel” in 18 events, which include both established and new competitions such as Mega Sumo RC, Combat Robot 1Lb (500 g) and 3Lb (1500 g). Mega Sumo RC, a version of the traditional competition, allows remote control of the robots, offering a dynamic and exciting experience. The Robot Combat events will bring the adrenaline rush of robot battles, inspired by the famous Discovery Channel shows, where robots are equipped with weapons and have the mission to destroy the opponent.
ROBOFEST is also hosting QUBE2SPACE, the world’s first PocketQube competition for high school students. Now in its third edition, the competition is organised by 2SPACE, the only team in Romania that designs, builds and launches rockets.
„ROBOFEST is not just a contest, but a platform for education and inspiration, dedicated to young people who aspire to become leaders in innovation. The event promises to be a point of attraction for all those interested in the future of technology and how robots and artificial intelligence will shape tomorrow’s society,” the press release also reads.
