President Klaus Iohannis signed on Thursday the decree on the accreditation of Sebastian Mitrache as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based in Riyadh, the Presidential Administration announces.
On February 29, Sebastian Mitrache was nominated for this position by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
He is political director, with the rank of director-general, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ headquarters, according to MAE.
From 2016 to 2022, he was Romania’s deputy permanent representative to NATO, and from 2015 to 2016, he was the director of the Security Policy Directorate at the MAE Headquarters.
Sebastian Mitrache has also worked at Permanent Delegation of Romania to NATO, including as head of the Political Section. He also served as Deputy Director (2008-2009) and head of service (2007-2008) in the NATO Directorate of the MAE.
From 2002-2007 he was a diplomat at the Romanian Embassy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
