President Klaus Iohannis will be in Brussels Wednesday and Thursday, where he will participate in the European Union – Western Balkans Summit and the European Council meeting.
On Wednesday, the head of state will take part in the European Union – Western Balkans Summit.
According to the Presidential Administration, the EU – Western Balkans Summit will focus on assessing the implementation of the Growth Plan for this region and on regional integration efforts, in the context in which enlargement represents the main geopolitical investment that the Union can make in its neighbourhood.
During the summit, Klaus Iohannis will express „Romania’s commitment to the European perspective of the region, while observing the principles of its own merits and strict conditionality, as well as based on the commitment of regional partners to European values, as an expression of strategic orientation, especially in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” reads the said source.
Also on Wednesday, according to his official scheduled, the head of state will have a meeting with the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa.
On Thursday, president Iohannis will participate in the European Council, where the agenda includes topics such as Ukraine, migration, the situation in the Middle East, the EU’s civil and military preparedness and response to crises, the EU’s role in the world and the enlargement of the Union, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and issues related to freedom, security and justice.
