The candidate of the „Romania Forward” alliance for the presidential election, Crin Antonescu, said on Friday that there is no alternative „to this formula of stability” composed of the current parliamentary majority.
„There is no alternative to this formula of stability, this political formula composed of the parliamentary majority, the current government, and the future president. It is the only guarantee of political stability in Romania. At the same time, it is the major political tool that can bring about many necessary changes. People talk in various ways, each according to their understanding and needs, about change. It is probably clear to all of us that change is needed, important changes, many changes regarding the functioning, authority, prestige and performance of the political class at all levels. But what we must make as many of our fellow citizens understand is that these changes can only be made by those who have the actual ability to implement them. There is no alternative to this parliamentary majority, there is no alternative to this formula of stability,” Antonescu said at the General Assembly of the National Union of County Councils of Romania in Chitorani, Prahova County.
He mentioned that no discussion about Romania’s immediate future and its perspectives can take place without political stability.
„It has already been seen that the leaders of regional, local, and county communities, together with the mayors, are the backbone, who, together with a parliamentary majority, a government, and, soon, with a president, can ensure the first condition that Romania needs in this international turmoil, namely stability. We cannot discuss anything about the immediate future and Romania’s prospects without political stability. All internal actors, all of society, but also all international actors, partners, need a stable interlocutor when it comes to the leadership of Romania, from top to bottom,” Antonescu concluded.
