Crin Antonescu, the presidential candidate of the „Romania Forward” Alliance, thanked on Monday all those who voted for him, while also voicing regret that he „failed in the arithmetic of politics.”
„My dear friends, both those I know and especially those I don’t, who supported me and gave me your vote, I thank you and salute you! I’m sorry that I failed in the arithmetic of politics, but I have no regrets about standing together with you. It was an honour and a joy to represent you, to once again speak on your behalf. And to the young people – the few – who stood by me, I say this: it’s not just about winning; what matters is knowing what you’re fighting for and doing so honestly, with no deceit and no expectations,” Antonescu wrote on Facebook.
According to him, life, history, and politics go on, and for the youth, this is only the beginning.
„The rest of us carry on with our values and beliefs, which we will uphold with dignity, even through difficult times and unfavourable circumstances. I thank you all! And I’ll see you here again, because I will continue to share what I believe and listen to all who want to engage in dialogue with me. I’m staying with you. I remain in love with our country – not just the one that might have been, but the one that exists now, as it is. As I’ve said before, it is all we have got. Romania, forward! With God ahead!,” Antonescu said.
