PresidentialElection2025/Crin Antonescu: I fully trust the parties that support me and also my own ability

Published on

The candidate of the Romania Inainte [Romania Forward] Alliance in the May presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, on Thursday stated that he fully trusts the parties that back him and also his own ability to successfully complete and win this electoral campaign, while also mentioning that he won’t keep his eyes on PSD (Social Democratic Party) and PNL (National Liberal Party) during this time, as his „job” has more to do „with the citizens of Romania.”

„All candidates have a chance. This is the principle of any competition. I entered this race with confidence, with confidence in my chances, because otherwise I would not have entered. My confidence has increased, I have every chance, I am running in this campaign. We will see who will win,” said Antonescu, in Parliament, when asked how he estimated his chances, after Calin Georgescu’s candidacy got rejected and Anamaria Gavrila withdrew.

Antonescu said he had no complaints regarding the involvement of PSD and PNL mayors in the electoral campaign.

„The mayors, to the extent that they are convinced of my candidacy, can lend a helping hand, they also enter the campaign, but it is my campaign, it is between me and the citizens, it is not between me and the mayors. (…) I repeat, this is between me and the citizens of Romania and it is my duty to convince as many citizens of Romania as possible. I am not here to keep an eye on either the Social Democratic Party or the National Liberal Party. That is the job of others, if they want to do it,” he added.
