PresidentialElection2025/ Cristian Terhes files with BEC to run for Romania’s top job

Chairman of the Romanian National Conservative Party (PNCR) Cristian Terhes submitted on Thursday to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) his candidacy for the May presidential election, the election oversight body said in a release.

Together with the candidacy proposal, the electoral symbol the Romanian National Conservative Party intends to use in the campaign was also submitted to BEC’s approval.

In accordance with the provisions of Art. 29 para. (2) and Art. 30 para. (6) of Law No. 370/2004, republished, with subsequent amendments and additions, the Central Electoral Bureau is to analyze and rule on the fulfillment of the legal requirements for the registration of the candidacy and the electoral symbol.

BEC’s decision regarding the registration or rejection of the candidacy and the electoral symbol will be made public according to the legal provisions, the cited source states.
