The president of the Democratic Union of Hungarian of Romania UDMR), Kelemen Hunor, on Friday stated in Prahova that, for Romania to remain on the good side of history, the presidential election must be won by Crin Antonescu, otherwise there is a risk that the country will enter a period of unrest.
„Our approach, mine, my colleagues’ is an extremely simple one. This year, we want to win the presidential election, we must win it. We entered this competition with this political, parliamentary coalition to win the election not for ourselves, first and foremost, but for the citizens of Romania. (…) We have only one thing to do, to explain to people what our common story is, to explain to each citizen, to explain to all communities in Romania that if we want to stay on the right track, if we want to stay on the good side of history, then we have only one thing to do, to win the presidential election with Crin Antonescu as president, because every person wants security, safety, every person wants predictability, every citizen, every family, every community,” Hunor said at the General Assembly of the National Union of County Councils of Romania held in Chitorani, Prahova County.
He recalled the difficult international and regional context, pointing out that „we cannot open the gate to political adventurers.”
„If we lose, our country loses. If we do not manage to win the election, this means that we will enter a period of unpredictable turmoil and this must be said. I (…) care very much about stability, balance, dialogue, predictability and I care very much that every person in this country, every family, every community feels safe. And this is what we will work for,” the UDMR president said.
