PresidentialElection2025/MAI Spokesperson Dajbog: 34 reports of continued electoral propaganda

The structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) were notified on Saturday and throughout the night about 50 possible incidents related to the presidential elections, including 34 reports of continued electoral propaganda and two cases of voter bribery, spokesperson Monica Dajbog reported on Sunday.

Out of the total number of notifications received by the MAI, 19 were forwarded to electoral bureaus for resolution.

Dajbog said in a press briefing that, according to data centralized by the National Integrated Command Centre, which monitors and coordinates election-related operations, no significant incidents were recorded overnight.

The MAI personnel who secured the polling stations overnight handed them over on Sunday morning to the presidents of the electoral bureaus, with the seals intact.

Regarding partial local elections, nine reports of possible electoral incidents were recorded.

„The presidents of polling station electoral bureaus are required to take the necessary measures to ensure the elections proceed smoothly. Their authority extends outside the polling station, in its vicinity, as well as on streets and in public squares, up to a distance of 500 metres. Refusal to comply with the orders of the polling station president regarding maintaining order in and around the polling station is considered a misdemeanor,” emphasised Monica Dajbog.

Over 43,000 MAI personnel are active on Sunday in operations related to the electoral process, primarily for polling station security, verifying electoral incidents, and maintaining public safety.

„Given information circulated in the public space, I inform you that no incidents related to mobile ballot voting have been recorded so far. As of now, 43 people have voted using the mobile ballot box. Nationally collected data shows that the number of mobile ballot requests is approximately 11,000 lower than during the previous election,” Dajbog added.

Romanian citizens can vote using one of the following documents: identity card, electronic identity card, provisional identity card, identity bulletin, and – for students in military schools – the military service card.

To assist those without valid identification, the General Directorate for Persons’ Records recommended that local public record services remain open to the public on Sunday (election day) between 07:00 and 21:00.
