PresidentialElection2025/ USR’s Elena Lasconi officially submits her presidential candidacy

Save Romania Union (USR) Chair Elena Lasconi on Thursday submitted to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) her candidacy for the presidential election this May.

Lasconi came to the BEC headquarters accompanied by several USR MPs and supporters.

As of March 12, the BEC had validated the candidacies of Nicusor Dan (independent) and Crin Antonescu (‘Romania Forward’ Alliance).

Another two hopefuls – Victor Ponta (independent) and S.O.S. Romania Party leader Diana Sosoaca also filed their candidacies.

The deadline for entering the presidential race is March 15.
