The interim president of the PSD (Social Democratic Party), Sorin Grindeanu, is participating from Thursday to Saturday in the Congress of the Party of European Socialists (PES), organized in Amsterdam, where he will send the clear message that Romania and the European Union must reject austerity policies and build an economy based on cohesion, solidarity and sustainable development.
„The interim President of the Social Democratic Party and the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, will participate, between October 16 and 18, 2025, in the Congress of the Party of European Socialists (PES), organized in Amsterdam, together with centre-left leaders from across Europe. President Sorin Grindeanu will deliver an intervention within the ‘Social Europe, Strong Europe’ panel, where he will emphasise the importance of a strong social Europe, public investments and an ambitious European budget. In his speech, he will send the clear message that Romania and the European Union must reject austerity policies and build an economy based on cohesion, solidarity and sustainable development,” according to a press release sent by the PSD to AGERPRES on Thursday.
During the Congress, the interim president of the PSD will have a series of bilateral meetings with Stefan Lofven, President of the Party of European Socialists, Iratxe Garcia Perez, President of the Socialists and Democrats (S&D) Group in the European Parliament, Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain and president of the PSOE, Antonio Costa, President of the European Council.
