The 10th edition of the International Olympiad of Hellenism, organised from Thursday to Sunday in Bucharest by the Ministry of Education and Research in partnership with the Hellenic Union of Romania, will have its opening ceremony at the Palace of Parliament on Friday.
‘The official opening of the competition will take place on 5 September, between 09:00 and 11:00, at the Palace of Parliament, Nicolae Balcescu Hall (Level P, Access C1), and the awards ceremony will be held on 6 September, between 10:00 and 12:30, at the Palace of Parliament, the Education Committee Hall of the Chamber of Deputies (Level 3, Building B4),’ the organisers announced in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
The competition reflects the Ministry of Education and Research’s commitment to encouraging excellence within pre-university education and supporting the affirmation of the cultural and linguistic identity of Romania’s national minorities.
This year’s edition will bring together pupils from 10 countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, France, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine and Hungary.
Initiated in 2014 by the Hellenic Union of Romania, the International Olympiad of Hellenism represents an academic space that, through the study of the Greek language, enables the understanding of profound concepts of Hellenic culture and their connection to the current historical and cultural context, thereby ensuring the long-term development of a motivated and responsible intellectual elite.
