The Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, declared on Monday that Romania continues to be an active contributor to the consolidation of collective security and the strengthening of NATO’s defense capabilities.

According to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) sent to AGERPRES, the statement was made during a meeting that Angel Tilvar had on Monday with Kathleen Kavalec, the US ambassador in Bucharest.

„During the discussions, topics were addressed that mainly concerned the bilateral cooperation within the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, as well as relevant aspects regarding the security situation in the Black Sea region. The stage and perspectives of the provision of multidimensional international assistance to support Ukraine were also on the agenda of the two officials,” the press release reads.

The minister highlighted Romania’s main lines of effort for Ukraine, with an emphasis on the training dimension.

The cited source also shows that the officials discussed the NATO Summit in Washington, in July, where crucial decisions are expected to be adopted for the security of the Alliance, in general, and for the stability and security of the Black Sea region and the southern flank Eastern, in particular.

„The Summit will be a defining moment for the future of the Alliance. We are ready to actively contribute to consolidate our collective security and strengthening NATO’s defense capabilities,” concluded Angel Tilvar.
