Romania will stand by the Republic of Moldova, strongly supporting its accession to the European Union, Senate President Nicolae Ciuca said.

He met on Wednesday in Chisinau with Moldovan president Maia Sandu.

„The vote in the European Parliament, which strongly supports the Republic of Moldova’s European path, is an essential step for the European future of our brothers across the Prut. Romania will stand by the Republic of Moldova, strongly supporting its European Union accession,” Nicolae Ciuca posted on Facebook.

According to him, the meeting with Maia Sandu was an opportunity to reaffirm full support for the reforms initiated in the neighbouring country.

”Today’s meeting in Chisinau with Maia Sandu, president of the Republic of Moldova, was an opportunity to reaffirm my full support for the courageous reforms initiated in Moldova. I will strengthen our partnership and will support all efforts aimed at bringing Moldova closer to the European family,” said the Senate president.
