A symbol of Romanian tradition, the Romanian folk blouse ‘ia’ is an element that has shown us that it has the power to unite Romanians with the same desire – to protect and acknowledge the cultural heritage, said Culture minister Raluca Turcan on Monday.
„A short while ago, Romanians from all over the world joined the „give credit” campaign, which aimed at the inestimable value and international recognition of the Romanian folk blouse ‘ia’. Today, on the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse, under the theme „A New Beginning – Give Credit”, I am glad that we manage to protect our cultural heritage and to convey to the world the message of love and respect for Romanian folk costume and artisans,” Raluca Turcan wrote on Facebook.
According to the cited source, after the use by Louis Vuitton of the Romanian blouse model specific to the Sibiu area as an inspirational source for some pieces of the „LV By The Pool” 2024 collection, the Ministry of Culture has opened a dialog with representatives of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group, which aims at a series of events and exhibitions in which the ia and Romanian craftsmen/ artisans will be valorised worldwide.
„I congratulate the „La blouse roumaine – IA” Association, which supports the community’s efforts to promote and protect the Romanian folk blouse ‘ia’ and the Romanian and universal cultural values, and I thank those who take part in this example of national pride,” the minister went on to add.
