Romania’s average number of pensioners drops to 4.996 M, in Q3, average monthly pension reaches 1,856 lei

In Quarter 3 of 2022, the average number of pensioners was 4.996 million persons, decreasing by 7,000 persons against the previous quarter, whereas the average monthly pension increased by 0.3pct up to 1,856 lei, in relation to the reference period, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Monday, Agerpres read.

In Q3, the average number of state social insurance pensioners was 4.603 million persons, decreasing by 1,000 persons as against of the previous quarter.

The average state monthly social insurance pension was 1,776 lei, and the ratio between the average nominal net pension of state social insurance for old age with full contribution stage (without tax and without health insurance contribution) and the average net earnings was 51.6pct (as compared to 51.8pct in the previous quarter). The real pension index as against of the previous quarter, calculated as the ratio between the nominal pension index (for calculation of real pension) and the consumer prices index, was 97.5pct.

Compared to Q3 of 2021, the average number of pensioners decreased by 77,000 people, and that of the category belonging to state social insurance by 49,000 people. The average monthly pension and the average state social insurance pension increased compared to the same quarter of the previous year, by 10.9pct and 10.7pct, respectively.

The INS data showed that in Q3 of 2022 against Q2 of 2022, the average number of pensioners decreased by 7,000 persons compared to the previous quarter, and the average number of state social insurance pensioners dropped by 1,000 persons. The average monthly pension and the average state social insurance pension increased compared to the previous quarter, by 0.3pct and 0.1pct, respectively.

The total ratio between the average number of state social insurance pensioners and that of employees was of 8 to 10; this ratio varies widely at territorial level, from only 4 pensioners to 10 employees in the lfov county, to 15 pensioners to 10 employees in the Teleorman county, 14 to 10 in the Vaslui county.
