Romania’s Bara advances to R16 of the W100 Maspalomas Gran Canaria Tournament

Romanian tennis player Irina Bara advanced to the round of 16 of the W100 Maspalomas Gran Canaria Tournament, after defeating Spanish player Lucia Cortez Llorca 6-2, 6 -2. It took Bara (aged 28, WTA’s 225th) one hour and 31 minutes to win her first duel with Cortez (23, WTA’s 377th), write Agerpres.

Bara’s next opponent will be Russian Polina Kudermetova (20, WTA’s 155th), whom the Romanian defeated in their only match, this April, in the second round of the W60 Koper Tournament in Slovenia, 6-4, 6-4. Irina Bara will also play in the doubles event alongside Italian Sara Errani.
