Romania’s Court of Accounts to benefit from experience of counterparts in the Republic of Koreea

The staff of the Romanian Court of Accounts will benefit from professional training at the Audit and Inspection Training Institute (AITI) of the Republic of Korea, in order to strengthen specific activities and improve the institution’s performance in priority areas.

According to a press release of the audit authority sent to AGERPRES on Friday, a delegation of the Court of Accounts of Romania, led by the president of the institution, Mihai Busuioc, and vice-president Ion Mocioalca, paid an official visit to the Republic Korea, at the invitation of the president of the Board of Audit and Inspection of the Republic of Korea (BAI), Jaehae Choe, over October 21-25.

The visit, carried out based on the cooperation agreement between the two Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), aimed at strengthening the exchange of experience in terms of strategic planning and risk analysis in the specific activity. Thus, president Mihai Busuioc emphasised the need to learn about new perspectives regarding the approach to audit topics within the missions carried out in key areas, with a direct impact on the lives of citizens.

„Strengthening relationships within the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) community ensures us the support of SAIs facing similar challenges. It is essential to have the opportunity to bring added value to the missions carried out in key areas through exchanging experience with counterpart institutions,” said Mihai Busuioc, quoted in the press release.

For his part, the president of the Board of Audit and Inspection of the Republic of Korea (BAI) highlighted the need to adapt the specific role of SAIs in the context of current challenges.

„The focus of the audit missions must be correlated with the economic development of our countries, implicitly with the needs generated by the rapid changes in the society. Finally, the goal of each supreme audit institution is to monitor the way in which public funds are managed, so that the activity would have the social impact expected by citizens,” said Jaehae Choe.

According to the same source, as part of the official visit, the delegation also had a meeting with Cezar Manole Armeanu, the Romanian ambassador to the Republic of Korea. The discussions focused on the common concerns of the two countries, noting that a close institutional cooperation in the matter of public finance management meets the objectives of the Strategic Partnership between the two states and contributes to deepening the traditional ties between Romania and the Republic of Korea.
