Romania’s industrial production in the first six months of 2024 decreased by 0.9% year-on-year, seasonally adjusted, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The decline was the result of decreases in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning (-6.8%), mining and quarrying (-1.1%) and the manufacturing industry (-0.2%).
On a monthly basis, June 2004 industrial production increased by 4% on increases in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning (+5.4%) and in the manufacturing industry (+5.1%), all seasonally adjusted. On the other hand, mining and quarrying decreased by 1.5%.
Year-on-year, the June 2024 industrial production increased by 0.5% on a rising manufacturing industry (+1.3%), all seasonally adjusted. At the opposite end were the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning and mining and quarrying, down 5.4% and 2.7%, respectively.
