The Bucharest Police informs that following a complaint placed via an 112 emergency call, law enforcement went on Wednesday to a location in the city’s Sector 1, where dangerous medical waste was improperly stored in the open air.

The Bucharest Police specifies that a mixed patrol consisting of a policeman and a gendarme from the Police 5th Precinct „promptly went to the scene, together with experts of the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service and of the Environmental Guard. The area was cordoned off for specific checks” which determined that about one ton of dangerous medical waste was stored in the open air, on a concrete platform of approximately 100 sqm.

The representatives of the Environmental Guard ordered that the waste be immediately moved in containers for neutralization by incineration.

The Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service continues the investigation in order to precisely establish the state of play, the Bucharest Police mentions.
